선과선분｜ Line and Segment 김민선은 서울을 기반으로 하는 도예가이다. 도예와 영상을 전공한 뒤 2017년에 세라믹 스튜디오 ‘선과 선분(Line and Segment)’을 열고 이후 조형적 실험을 바탕으로한 실용성있는 도예작업을 선보이고 있다. 빛과 환영을 매개로 작업하던 과거의 경험은 그로 하여금 비실재적인 강렬한 색채감을 중요한 작업 요소로 삼게 하였다. 금속 등 다른 재료와 결합하여 흙의 물성을 넘어선 긴장감있는 형태를 연출하며 원료 실험을 통해 관습적이지 않은 제작방법을 탐구하고 특유의 간결한 미감으로 표현한다. Line and Segment is a ceramic studio run by ceramicist Minseon Kim.Minseon Kim is based in Seoul, Korea. With a major in Ceramics and Motion Pictures, Kim opened her studio “Line and Segment” in 2017, and since has presented functional ceramic works based on compositional experiments. Informed by her previous experiences working with light and illusion, stark and vivid color has become a central element of her work. With the intention to challenge the viewer’s reality, Kim combines clay with other materials such as metal to forge tension that transcends the natural properties of clay. By experimenting with raw materials such as clay and glaze, Kim explores unconventional making methods and presents her work in a distinctive minimal aesthetic.
